The Study on Antistreptolysin O(ASLO) titer of Koreans

Abstract
The authors examined ASLO titers on 222 patients(male: 115, female: 107) who were treated for arthralgia of various causes & orthopaedic infections, definite or suspected, for past 2 years from July, 1968 to July, 1970 at Pusan National University Hospital.
The following results were obtained from the review of the ASLO titers of above patients.
1) The range of ASLO titers was from 50 to 1250 units (Todd) with average titer being 312.5 units.
2) Of the 222 patients, the ASLO titer was above 100 units in 97%, above 166 units in 87.4% & above 250 units in 67.8%(more than half of the patients). 66% of the patients was distributed between 166 & 500 units with 333 units as peak.
3) From the above study, the normal ASLO titer of healthy Koreans seems to be below 250 units.
4) The average ASLO titer of male & female was 354. 1 & 357.9 units respectively, showing negligible differences between sex.
